365 Ways to Boost Your Self-Esteem

Self-esteem is the key to how we perform in all aspects of our lives. When our self-esteem is high, we feel better and can face up to the challenges of life much more effectively and increase our success. As we are successful in coping with these challenges our self-esteem improves. Thus we get into a positive cycle where our increasing self-esteem gives us more success and this boosts our self-esteem.
The California Task Force to Promote Self-Esteem and Personal and Social Responsibility stated that the lack of self-esteem is central to most personal and social ills plaguing our state and nation.
There was this new salesperson who was given the worst territory in the district. She worked hard and managed to average commissions of better than $5,000 a month. This was a twofold improvement over anyone else who had been given the territory. So they rewarded her by giving her the best territory. Here the worst salesperson had been averaging commissions of more than $10,000. Everyone expected her to earn at least $20,000 a month in this excellent territory. Alas she continued to earn $5,000 a month.
What had happened? She was a $5000 a month person. Her internal concept only expected this much a month so that's what she achieved no matter what territory they gave her. We all have this type of self-concept in each arena of our lives. Our self-esteem is the totality of all these self-concepts in the different arenas of our lives.
