Be bold and experiment

This morning I went to Amazon.com and got myself some affiliate links. Those are links are such that when someone goes to Amazon and buys something I receive a commission which helps me have time to write blogs such as this

The whole process took much longer than I imagined and then I had some technical difficulties which caused me to have to start a new free blog just to place the Amazon links in. I noticed that apparently I had taken much more time than I meant to take and this was not an efficient use of my time.

However, I’m glad I did this since I learned something new and so long as you are learning you are growing. So long as you experiment you discover new things. The other day I was in a Chinese restaurant and I found the soup section and pointed to one of those selections in the menu which do not have an English translation. The waiter told me that it was quite hot. I said, nonchalantly, “I want to try it.” It was a hot fish soup like no other I had ever tried before (or since for that matter). It was novel and fun.

The interesting thing is that the waiter was so impressed by my boldness and experimentation that he brought me more soup for free and I had great fun experimenting and trying something new. In fact I do that often in restaurants and have discovered many wonderful foods that I love that people who always want the same old same old never discover.

So be bold and experiment. In words of Watson the original chairman of IBM, “If you want to double your success double your rate of failures.” Remember in truth, “There’s no such thing as failure only results.”
