Do not drink milk for health
Posted Under: diets, food, health tips, healthy diet, old post
Cow milk is not designed for adult human consumption. Many people suffer from lactose intolerance and will suffer from gastrointestinal problems when drinking milk. In reality cows milk is not good for anything other than calves. It is designed for babies (calves that is – but I suppose human babies can drink it too) to fatten them as fast as possible.
Factory produced cows milk (non-organic milk) is full of growth hormones and anti-biotic residues and is even more unhealthy. In fact non-organic milk is designed to fatten calves even faster than nature designed it. The saturated fatty acids in milk are also bad for your heart.
So what to do?
- If you must have milk drink skimmed non-fat variety. Most of the milk is water and thus 2% fat milk has two percent fat by volume which makes it about 38% fat by calories.
- Much better drink soy milk. Not only does soy milk not have the deleterious effects of milk it is full of soy isoflavinoids and may protect against various cancers.
- If you must have dairy products yogurt is much better than milk and people with lactose intolerance can typically eat yogurt without any problems. Have fat free plain yogurt (very low glycemic index) which is actually very good for you in a weight reduction regime.
- A little cheese (especially from overseas countries which do not allow factory dairy farms) is ok even though they can be very fatty. The point is that if you really enjoy the food and have a small portion size the good that the enjoyment does can counter the bad of the fat.
- You can supplement your diet with calcium pills.
