Drink Water for Flu

My wonderful wife has the flu and I’m looking after her while making sure I don’t get it.
So far I have been very successful in this. The way I have done this is to drink even more water and green tea than my normal minimum of eight glasses. I’m also taking massive doses of vitamin C and eating prunes and other fruits full of antioxidants and fiber.
Now, the system works for me and part of it may be due to the placebo effect and perhaps will not work for you. Also note that if you take massive doses of vitamin C you could end up with indigestion and diarrhea so you have to be careful.
But the real point is that most of the time we are dehydrated and need to drink more water. This is especially true when we are sick or are under stress.
Also antioxidants help improve our immune system. Another thing which keeps us healthy is receiving enough fiber. Once more, the diet in most advanced industrial countries especially the USA lacks in enough fiber.
Adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet will improve your hydration, increase the amount of fiber and of course gives you plenty of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Another great advantage of a diet filled with a variety of different plant based foods is that the soluble fiber will help actually reduce your cholesterol. In fact eating at least two apples a day may lower your cholesterol levels by up to twenty percent.
Other foods with plenty of soluble fiber include beans of all types and of course oat meal. Typically changing our diet to one of more fiber and less meat can lower your cholesterol as much if not more than cholesterol lowering drugs. However, since big pharmaceutical conglomerates do not make money from natural health, this information is not disseminated and we keep getting big pharma propaganda (advertising to lay people on TV) telling us to take this drug or that, rather than having a healthy life style.
Note: reducing your weight is one of the best ways of countering some types of prediabetic conditions and even may help with some types of diabetes.
