Gym parking contradiction

I just went to the gym to exercise. Both when I arrived here and when I left I noticed some people waiting a few minutes so they could get a parking spot near the entrance.  It doesn’t make sense to me. Here are people going to exercise and they refuse to walk a few extra yards.

I’m sure we all have such contradictions in our lives. Sometimes the contradiction is good but often negative.

I heard someone make an extremely racist joke against African Americans. I was sure he was an extreme racist. Two weeks later I saw him hire an African American. That’s a great contradiction. In time I realized that the guy was not prejudiced, just not politically correct.

Back to the gym – it makes no sense to waste time waiting for a parking spot to go to the gym. In fact recent research has shown that using public transportation helps one reduce weight. This is because when we use public transportation we walk more.

So as I have written many times before, when parking, park your car away from where you are going. Not only will you burn extra calories as you walk to your destination you will save your car as the chances are that others will try their best to park next to the store or so you will park where there are fewer cars to ding yours when they open their doors.
