Habits – good, bad, indifferent?
Depends if those habits are healthy, neutral or negative habits….
Living beings are creatures of habits. Biological systems work through repetition.
You could say that the spiral pattern of the DNA molecule is symbolic of habits.
The good news is that habits automate things and make life easy.
However, they can constrain you if you keep a habit way beyond its usefulness. For example you may have heard of the story of guy who was curious why his new wife always cut the two ends of the roast before cooking.
He asked his wife why she did that and his wife replied that she learned it from her mother.
So they asked the mother why she did thta, and she in turn replied that she had learned it from her mother. When they asked the grandmother how come she cut the two ends of the eoast before cooking she replied that she didn’t do it anymore. She only used to do that earlier when her pot was too small.
In the same way often we keep habits which are no longer useful.
However there are plenty of good healthy habits that we can keep:
- Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.
- Walk at least an average of thirty minutes a day, four days a wekk.
- Be grateful.
- Appreciate your loved ones and let them know you love them.
- Do not watch TV (especially news) last thing at night.
- Take time off and enjoy yourself.
- Breath from your diaphragm.
- Relax.
- Laugh a lot.
- Give people true complements when you honestly appreciate them.
- Drink plenty of water.
- While you are about it eat plenty of fiber.
- Visit your dentist regularly.
- Weigh yourself regularly.
- Meditate.
