Longevity secret – Not for everyone

It works with rats – perhaps it works with humans….
When scientists give rats as much food as they want for twenty four hours and then put them on a fast for next twenty four hours they live longer. In human terms their lifespan increases by equivalent of twenty years in human terms. Moreover, they appear to have sharper brains as they age. This is demonstrated by the way they run mazes and do other “rat IQ” tests.
The rats like other animals have their brains slow down as they age. However, the twenty four hour on off rats keep their brains younger and have stronger immune system. So it’s not just a mater of longevity for these rats but it’s a matter of quality of their life as well as quantity.
A few people are doing this diet but they have not done it long enough to see any difference between them and people with normal diets. I have tested this system on and off for a while. I did it for about two years a few years ago and had to stop since it does make life difficult for our family and loved ones.
My weight dropped by a huge amount even though that was not the reason I was doing it. The way I do that is to start the twenty four hours at five p.m. and end in exactly twenty four hours.
So I eat whatever I want until five p.m. next day and then I eat nothing for the next twenty four hours. You can and should drink a huge amount of zero calorie fluids such as plane water, tea, coffee, herb teas. No fruit juices or anything else with sugar is allowed during the twenty four hour fast period.
As I mentioned above. This is not for most people and there is not any research to indicate if it would work to lengthen human lifespan or for that matter would work to lower your weight.
I do find it as an easy way for my body type to reduce my weight and it makes life easy as I have a simple rule. Eat – do not eat. Given my personal psychology I like low glycemic index diet for the same reason. In this you can eat most thigs so long as you make sure the glycemic index of the foord you eat is low.
At the same time when I’m on this twenty four on/off diet, I make sure that I break the fast with very low glycemic index foods like plain non-fat yogurt, bulky vegetables, and lean meat. Later on I can eat the higher glycemic foods like fruits. I avoid the extreme high glycemic index sugary foods but do eat a little when I desire.
Note that the ultimate longevity secret is lowering your caloric intake will lengthen your life. It does not mater how you do that. For me the above method is simplest and my stomach can do it. Most people may end up with acidic stomach, low blood sugar or hunger pangs if they fast every second twenty four hours.
