Look in the mirror first

I was waiting in line at Costco to get gas. There was a rather overweight gentleman in front of me who was really taking his time. As the line behind me got longer and longer, this guy who looked six month pregnant would not move, and I started writing this post in my mind. I was going to complain about how people who don’t look after themselves are also disrespectful of others.

Eventually the guy started to pump his gas all the time taking his time over every single step. Then he ended, sat back and did not move. The car in front of him moved and he was still talking on his cell phone and refused to move. So I angrily rushed in front of him, jumped out and started to pump gas and went and complained to him, “Why don’t you move first and talk somewhere else,” I screamed.

At this moment I noticed the crutch in his car as he replied, “What do you think I’m doing? My car won’t budge.”

I was still peeved to say the least and continued, “All you had to do is ask for help,” and I started to help push his car out of the way. Another gentleman came and helped us. I apologized for my outburst. By this time all was forgiven and the guy with the car problem told me that his car had just returned from the dealership. I noticed it was a brand new German car. Anyway, we pushed him to a safe parking spot so he could wait to be towed.

I went back to my car which was filled by now. I got in and tried to start the car. And they say there is no such thing as karma.

Wouldn’t you know it. My car wouldn’t start. I got some help and pushed it out of the way. There was another car next to mine having problems. It had got gas from the same pump. So I opened my bonnet and checked the oil level. I had enough oil. I waited a couple of minutes and this time the car started and I drove home sheepishly.

So next time you think some one else is an idiot, take a deep look in the mirror. What you can be sure of is the person you are looking at is definitely an idiot…. The other person may or may not be one but that’s not your problem.

As Jesus said, “You, hypocrites, you don’t see the beam in your own eye and you bitch about the speck in brothers eye.” OK it’s my modern very vernacular translation but I already admitted I’m an idiot!
