What do you have to lose – take a risk
It is interesting that exactly when you need to do something, you avoid it.
Exactly when you need to be with friends because you are depressed, you are too needy and hence do not see anyone.
You could say that whatever you would do and are avoiding just now you should think about doing.
Ask yourself, “What am I procrastinating about?”
Whatever answer you get – take at least one tiny step. For example I have been avoiding writing any articles on our blogs and also since many of our blogs went down and I had to change our hosting company I have avoided bringing them all back up.
Some I lost totally and unfortunately I know it was my own fault. I was not careful. First I went against my own way and I did not forgive and then I beat myself up and in reality sabotaged myself by making things worse by not saving everything that had to be saved. I was careless and since then I have been beating myself up and making myself suffer because I made myself suffer.
Note: It is always easier to guide others than to guide yourself.
However, it is so easy to blame yourself because you self sabotage and thus end up sabotaging yourself even more…
And then off course you blame yourself…
And so it goes.
How do you top such vicious cycle?
Act – take a risk – what do you have to lose?
That first action allows you to take more and more actions. You go from the vicious cycle to beneficial cycle where your self confidence starts going up and so you take more actions and so on…
I wish to end this post with the following observation:
Tom Watson (the original chairman of IBM) once said if you wish to double your success, double your failures – take more safe risks and have much more success. By safe risks I mean things that cannot harm your body/mind/soul/spirit. Writing a post or bringing up a lost blog cannot harm me – so that’s a safe risk.
Smoking, lying, cheating, driving too fast and so on are bad risks.
