More reason to eat broccoli

Men who ate broccoli or cauliflower more than once a week appear to have the chance of having advanced prostate cancer (stage II or IV) than those who ate the vegetables less than once a month. Cabbages (alone, coleslaw, or sauerkraut) may have similar effects but this is not yet proven.
I happen to eat more than one serving of the above each week. My recommendation is to eat a diet of plenty of different fruits and vegetables. The combination will provide you with all the different nutrients you need. Also fruits and vegetables have plenty of wonderful fiber which protect your colon and help lower your LDL (bad) cholesterol while raising your HDL (good cholesterol).
I find people who increase their fruits and vegetables to more than ten servings a day and decrease their consumption of meats lower their weight. By the way in practice eating ten servings a day is not easy and anyway you need to approach it slowly since otherwise you’ll get the runs.
Latest research shows that broccoli sprouts (which are very high in sulforaphane) may fight allergies. People who ate seven ounces of broccoli sprouts daily for three days had up to two hundred percent increase in the levels of antioxidant enzymes in their nasal passages. This helps counter the inflammation that contributes to allergy symptoms.
