Smaller plates for smaller waist

One great way to manage your weight is to do as the French do and use smaller plates. They use nine-inch plate rather than our eleven or thirteen-inch plates and only 6% of French adults are obese compared to 18% of Americans.
The other thing the French do is to eat slowly, with time between different courses and most importantly they enjoy their food. By eating slowly you allow your bodies natural satiety system to tell you when to stop eating. Basically stop eating as soon as you feel full – or better still a little before you feel full – that way you will lose excess weight.
Remember that it takes twenty minutes for the food you eat to be digested and your brain to receive the message from your digestive system that you are satisfied. Thus if you eat slowly you will understand that you are satisfied but when you eat fast food you gobble way more calories than you need and you get fat.
By the way one of my weight reduction clients heard that eating on blue plates you eat less. I don’t know if that is true but try anything once. Another thing I heard is that it is useful to eat green vegetables for breakfast. I will try this and report back on how this works.
Obviously it is good to eat extra fruits and vegetables. I think the extra fiber will give bulk and keep you full. At the same time the complex carbohydrates in the vegetables will balance the blood glucose levels. This means you will not get the munchies and need high calorie snacks.
One thing about eating raw vegetables is that often we eat them with high calorie dips or salad cream. Much better is to try salsa or other spicy but no calorie addition to give the veggies that zest. If you have spices, they will increase your metabolic rate for a little while and you burn two or three extra calories (believe me they add up in the long run).
