Thank your angels

Yesterday I was in a slight hurry. Exactly as I got into my car a huge gas guzzler (already my prejudices started showing) stopped in a spot that I could not get out of the parking spot.
I waited and waited as the person being dropped off said her goodbyes and kissed the driver (taking all the time – well I lie – a long time over it). Now, whenever I’m miffed I think of this blog and what I would like to write.
At the same time I was wondering if I should use my horn or not. I was wondering if they realized I was waiting. Sure anyone with any sense should have seen me going into my car and that I could not get out.
I was thinking about their total lack of consideration for others (again judgments). Now it did not help that the girl getting out was the teenage daughter of a neighbor whose friends leave cigarette butts, coke cans, and other garbage everywhere….
The neighbor herself has a tiny but extremely aggressive dog that she used to let out without a leash (I was once stopped by this baking beast for three minutes from getting into our home). You see I had been told that the dog bit….
At the same time as I was getting more and more miffed (living in the past – the neighbors no longer let the dog out without a leash – the daughter cleans up after her friends) I was also remembering a spiritual practice I was doing yesterday which was to bless everyone I saw….
So here I was by now getting slightly angry and doing my best to send them blessings. So eventually they finished kissing (I don’t know if this was the father – her parents are divorced – or boy friend) and the huge SUV went on its way and I could get out….
So now I’m following this huge black beast (the SUV) and it’s going so slowly. It’s as though the driver is driving slowly on purpose….
Eventually I turned my way and the car carried on straight. It was at this time that I remembered: Your angels are whoever pushes your buttons.
In reality it was a good time for me to learn patience. I remember many years ago driving in Amsterdam by the canals. The streets on each side of the canals are such that if a car or truck is delivering something everyone just waits. It’s the only thing you can do. We are in way too much of a hurry getting absolutely nowhere….
I’ll write about that at another time. For now just remember anytime you become angry you are doing it by your attitude to what is going on, and remember your kind angels, who are there to teach you something and perhaps even save you from yourself.
So once I remembered this I blessed the persons from the bottom of my heart and had a great afternoon.
