Continuing the affirmation series with some affirmations from the Michelangelo weight management seminar:

  • I eat foods which are good for me and I easily and lovingly approach my perfect weight.
  • I approve of myself.
  • I like myself.
  • I take full responsibility for all my actions and all that happens to me.
  • I know all exercise helps me get fit.

There are also a series of release affirmations we use in the seminar:

A great way to accept what is and hence be able to change is through releasing both negative and positive emotions. This last part is very important to release positive emotions as well as negative ones.

Release Technique:

There are seven basic patterns:

  1. “I release my belief, perception, judgment that….”
  2. “I release all need or desire to….”
  3. “I release my unwillingness to….”
  4. “I release all fear of….” or “I release all fear that….”
  5. “I release all thoughts of….” “I release all thoughts that….”
  6. “I release my resistance to….”
  7. “I release any impediments or blocks to….”

Examples for weight management:

  • “I release my belief, perception, judgment that I may not lower my weight safely and easily.”
  • “I release all need or desire to always eat high caloric deserts.”
  • “I release all need or desire to not eat any desert at all.”
  • “I release my unwillingness to exercise even if very little at a time.”
  • “I release all fear that when I reduce my weight I will not be taken s seriously.”
  • “I release all fear of starvation.”
  • “I release all fear that if I do not lose weight I’ll become fat.”
  • “I release all guilt about eating whatever I want to eat.”
  • “I release all guilt about eating this desert.”
  • “I release all thoughts that I don’t have enough time.”
  • “I release my resistance to managing my weight.”
  • “I release my resistance to eating more fruits and vegetables.”
  • “I release any impediments or blocks to weight control.”

You can use the above release affirmations just before eating a certain less desirable (from a weight loss point of view) high calorie food. When you let go of the guilt associated with eating a certain food, you’ll be more in control and eat a smaller portion. So it is not a choice of not eating your favorite desert and feeling deprived (you’ll end up eating more later on to compensate) or feeling guilty and still eating the “forbidden” food and not being satisfied.

Remember being happy and satisfied is a pillar of sustainable weight loss.
