What’s in a name?
Continuing in answering the question What is failure?
I first answered this here:
The answer to what is failure?
Today I was listening to one of my favorite audios: The Game of Life by Florence Scovel Shinn and got to a section where she writes (the audo is a reading of the book) about a friend who was a priest. He told her, "I once babtized babies and they had many names but now I babtize events and call every event a success."
Once you call each and ever event a success your mind will come up with the positive within that event and how in the long run the event will be a success.
Did you know that under normal ecconomic times ninty percent of people who are fired from a job are much happier within a year and have found a much better position.
Another interesting fact is that the average self mage multimillionaire (actually it was millionaire when the study was done but that was many years ago when a million was worth much more than today’s inflated dollars) became bankcrupt many times before making and keeping that final wealth and success.
This reminds me of the person who asked Thomas J. Watson the founding president of IBM how he could double his success. The bussiness genius replied, "Simple, double your failures."
Again, we all know that great baseball hitter, Babe Ruth (no juicing) had more home runs than anyone before. Not everyone know that he also had more strike outs than anyone before.
