Marianne and Jeff
Adoptive parents profile
We’re Marianne and Jeff and are glad to have this opportunity to introduce ourselves to you. We realize you must be facing a difficult, life-altering decision right now and hope that our words will give you comfort and help you get to know a little bit about who we are and how we live our lives.
We’ve been happily married for 16 years and live in North Orange County, California, close to parks, walking trails, amusement parks and the beach. Some of our favorite shared activities include hiking, kayaking, scuba diving, traveling and learning about other cultures. At home, we like watching movies, reading and gardening.
Jeff is the owner of a packaging distributing company. His business allows him to meet and interact with many exciting people in the dynamic electronics industry. Jeff loves spending time in nature, as well as photography, bicycling and backpacking. He believes strongly in helping people, is a regular blood donor and just gave his 93rd donation!
I’m a community college instructor and love what I do. I find it very rewarding to teach adults and one of my favorite activities is going on field trips with students. Some of my friends and I volunteer our time rescuing stray animals and placing them in good homes, which is something I’m very passionate about. I also enjoy being in the outdoors and observing wildlife.
Family and friends are very important to us. Most of Jeff’s large extended family lives in Southern California and we often spend time with them at family parties and the holidays. My mom and a few other family members live locally, but most of my relatives live in Europe.
We see some of them annually when they make family trips to the United States and try to visit them every few years. Some of our closest friends and their children live nearby and we enjoy camping with them, attending the kids’ games, and just hanging out with the family. We have two additional family members: our two dogs, Binti and Johnny. They love people and often accompany us on outings with family and friends.
Jeff and I are very excited about becoming parents and are fortunate to have a great deal of flexibility in our work schedules. I have the summer and winter terms off from teaching, and we both work partly from home so we plan to share the job of childcare. Over the years, we’ve really enjoyed watching our friends’ and relatives’ children learn to walk and talk, develop their sense of self and become their own, unique individuals. Jeff and I would love to experience those important life stages with a child of our own and share our lives, passions and adventures with them!
We have a lot to offer a child - emotionally, physically and spiritually - and will provide a nurturing, loving home and family. We have strong family values and believe in giving back to the community. We’re committed to passing on this same responsibility and compassion to a son or daughter. It’s very important to us for our child to be a well-rounded person and learn about all aspects of life including helping others, cherishing friendships, appreciating and respecting nature, and valuing an education – but above all, being happy and always having a sense of humor!
It was very important to us to choose open adoption so that we could give our child the opportunity to know about his or her birth parents. If you select us to be the adoptive parents of your baby, we’d love to stay in touch with you after the adoption is finalized and continue providing you with photos and updates (if you’re comfortable with that).
Searching for the right adoptive parents must be very difficult for you. We hope that reading our letter helps give you some peace of mind and shows that we care about your wellbeing. If you’d like to learn more about us or have any questions about open adoption please contact Randy Hicks, our adoption attorney, at 1-800-756-6757. We wish you well and hope to meet you and get to know you!
