Licensed Behavioral Health Therapist Full-Time/Part-Time
We are looking for a Licensed Behavioral Health Therapist who is passionate about helping individuals heal, grow, and thrive within a supportive team.
The Licensed Behavioral Health Therapist will provide high-quality individual, family, and group therapy to clients in need of mental health support. As part of our dedicated and dynamic team, you will offer therapeutic interventions based on evidence-based practices, work collaboratively with a diverse client base, and contribute to the growth and success of our clinic. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, motivated, and committed to providing exceptional mental health care in a holistic and client-focused setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct Clinical Services:
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy to clients with diverse mental health needs, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship issues, and more.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs and goals.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, and others as appropriate.
- Document progress, treatment plans, and notes in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with other therapists, administrative staff, and community resources to ensure clients receive comprehensive care.
- Participate in case consultations, clinical supervision, and team meetings.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and their families, providing them with the support they need to succeed in therapy.
- Cultural Competence and Sensitivity:
- Provide culturally competent therapy services that honor the diverse backgrounds and experiences of clients.
- Address the unique challenges faced by underserved populations, including those from varied ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain up-to-date clinical records in accordance with ethical and legal requirements.
- Assist with the coordination of referrals to other specialists or services when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all clinic policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Community Engagement:
- Represent the clinic in community outreach efforts as needed, including educating the community about mental health resources.
- Foster a positive image for the clinic through professional and ethical conduct.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), Psychology, or related field.
- Valid license in California (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or Licensed Psychologist) by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with a variety of therapeutic modalities.
- Strong understanding of confidentiality laws, ethical standards, and HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a small clinic setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred:
- Experience working with diverse populations, including those experiencing trauma, domestic violence, or substance use issues.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
- Experience in a private practice or small clinic environment.

Associate Behavioral Health Therapist Intern Internship/Part-Time/Full-Time Under the supervision of a licensed Therapist
As an Associate Behavioral Health Therapist Intern, you will be an integral part of the team at Life Focus Center Inc., gaining invaluable clinical experience under the supervision of a licensed therapist. This role is ideal for a California state-registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (AMFT), Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW), or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) who is pursuing licensure and needs to complete the required 3,000 hours of supervised experience. You will work with a diverse client population, providing individual, group, and family therapy while developing your clinical skills and knowledge in a supportive, woman-led, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct Client Care:
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy to clients with diverse mental health needs, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and behavioral concerns.
- Conduct intake assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide ongoing therapeutic interventions under the supervision of a licensed therapist.
- Use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and other relevant modalities tailored to client needs.
- Maintain appropriate clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and client case records in compliance with clinic policies and ethical standards.
- Supervision and Professional Development:
- Receive weekly individual or group supervision sessions with a licensed therapist to review cases, receive feedback, and ensure clinical development.
- Actively participate in regular training, seminars, and workshops to enhance knowledge and skillsets in therapy, ethics, and clinical practice.
- Track and document hours toward licensure in accordance with California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) guidelines and Life Focus Center policies.
- Foster a growth-oriented mindset, seeking guidance and feedback to improve clinical competency and therapeutic techniques.
- Collaboration with Clinical Team:
- Work collaboratively with other interns and licensed therapists in case consultations, clinical meetings, and multidisciplinary team discussions.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and contribute to clinical discussions regarding treatment planning and client care.
- Work with the team to address client needs and ensure that they receive the highest quality of care and services.
- Cultural Competence and Sensitivity:
- Provide culturally sensitive services and therapy to individuals from diverse backgrounds, ensuring an inclusive and respectful therapeutic environment.
- Address the unique challenges and strengths of clients from various cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic groups, particularly underserved populations.
- Administrative Responsibilities:
- Complete all required documentation and case notes in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.
- Maintain client files and treatment plans in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Assist with program evaluations and contribute to quality improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Must be a registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (AMFT), Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW), or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) in the state of California.
- Master’s degree in relevant field.
- Must be actively pursuing the required 3,000 hours toward licensure in California.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with clients in a compassionate, client-centered manner.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships with clients, supervisors, and team members.
- Basic knowledge of mental health disorders, treatment modalities, and ethical guidelines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards and clinical best practices.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings or weekends as needed.
- Preferred:
- Experience or interest in working with children, adolescents, families, or underserved populations.
- Familiarity with community resources and the ability to make referrals to external services when necessary.

- Experience in using electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus.
Compensation:
- This begins as an unpaid internship; however, it provides an excellent opportunity to accumulate hours toward licensure in California. As competency and skills are acquired compensation will be discussed once specific training intervals are met.
